About the Hoboken Almanac
Mission Statement

"The Hoboken Almanac" is a periodical dedicated to the advancement and development of photography. It is a vehicle through which to inform, entertain, and promote the traditional and progressive techniques and craft of the medium. This will encompass the older techniques of manufacturing and exposing film and paper emulsions such as platinum, palladium, albumin and other paper processing techniques, and explore new directions in technology that are changing the medium.

The Almanac will seek out prominent traditional photographers, writers and artists to discuss their techniques of image making, for example - George Tice and the print, Arnold Newman and the portrait, and A.D. Coleman and criticism, to cite only a few.

In the world of photography today, we are confronted with great changes in its medium; pixels and bytes, digital imaging and auto focus; and a term which spells it all out: "Image Capturing." The Hoboken Almanac will analyze the relationship between traditional silver halide methods and the development of Digital Image Capturing but it will try to keep the traditions that we've known for so long alive.
